SINGLES SPEAK UP TOASTMASTERS CALENDAR: August-December 2005

AUGUST

Second Friday, Aug 12

ICEBREAKER NIGHT!

Come and give new members your full support! THREE will join forces in order to give their first Toastmaster speech. This special event will mean so much more with a good audience.

Fourth Friday, Aug 26

LAST SUMMER SPEECHES.

You have time to plan for speeches here, at the end of summer—it may be a lot harder once fall classes and workloads begin.

SEPTEMBER

Second Friday, Sept 9

PRACTICE FOR THE CONTEST.

Try jokemaster or another small role, if you haven’t before, to stay used to being in front of the audience before next meeting’s contest.

Fourth Friday, Sept 23

THE CONTEST!

This is the annual Humorous Speech and Table Topics contest. Come with a funny story or train of thought—or, if you don’t have time to prepare, polish your wit to do an unknown table topic on your feet. This is where our club’s innate talent really steps to the fore!

OCTOBER

Monday October 3
Area Speech Contest

Come and support the winner of the SSU contest. Will we make it to the next level? Details to be provided.

Second Friday, Oct 7

CTM OPPS.

This is your chance to work in another CTM speech, if you aren’t there yet. Several members are enticingly close, and finishing will get us closer to President’s Distinguished status.

Saturday October 15

Division D Contest
Georgian Court College

Sunday October 16

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race

Wednesdays October 19
and October 26

Better Speaker Series
South Brunswick High School

Between Oct 7-21

Now is the best possible time to expand membership. Distribute flyers on the Open House at your local library, stores, workplace.

Better Speaker Series: SSU members will explain what TM means to a South Brunswick community education class Oct 19 and 26.

Fourth Friday, Oct 21

“SUCCESSFULLY SINGLE IN CENTRAL NJ PANEL” and Open House

This event will feature a panel on being a successful single. Our first confirmed panelist is Gayle Crist, a lifestyle and career coach who recently married someone she met on line—and she has fantastic tips on the process.

NOVEMBER

Friday/Saturday Nov 4 and 5

District 38 Conference, Radisson, Mount Laurel

Second Friday, Nov 11

STORYTELLING NIGHT

Guests from local storytelling groups will be invited to tell short stories. This is a chance to work a story or anecdote into a speech of your own and to learn from the experts.

Fourth Friday, Nov 25

GIVE THANKS!

This is a night to give thanks through thoughtful Table Topics and speeches. Despite the holiday, many of us singles stay in town and get together.

DECEMBER

Second Friday, Dec 9

ATM NIGHT.

Stalling on your ATM—any of the three categories? Here’s a night to sharpen your skills by speaking with other prospective ATMs. Other speeches more than welcome, of course.

Fourth Friday (?)

To be determined
